And I have a new camera! Please welcome my shiny new Nikon D40 dSLR!
Phew, I have never researched a product so much before buying it. The decision to go with Nikon was easy. ...I always love the well-deserving underdog. Choosing between the D40, D40x, D50, D70 & D80 was the real headache. Then I almost spent a whole month on ebay looking for good secondhand glass (primes) and another whole month on camera websites & forums researching the best budget lens combination.
I ended up with: the capable kit lens 18-55mm the 55-200 VR zoom & a secondhand manual focus 50mm/1.4 made before I was born (early 1980s I've deduced)
I now officially have more gear than talent. Shoutout to Anna for carting all this stuff from the US for me.
I'm still lusting after a few accessories like a fancy Crumpler camera bag, B&W filters, or an SB600 Speedlite, but I figure I gotta earn those by producing some good pictures first.
So really going to try this picture a day business from now on.
